NOC Engineers use a variety of tools to help them perform their daily tasks. They will look at the functionality of various hardware, software and environmental elements that may affect operations. All incidents need to be tracked and these professionals are responsible for documentation of both the issues and the steps for resolution. Due to the number of departments or people that can be involved, strong communication skills in both written and verbal form are a necessity for NOC Engineers.
The employment market for computer support specialists such as NOC Engineers is projected to grow by 12 percent as stated by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. A four-year degree is usually required, but some employers will give preference to candidates that have experience with server hardware, working in manufacturing or large distribution environments, helpdesk and customer service.
